The Will to Survive, Escape and Reclaim Your Body

This series is a powerful, emotional, and intimidating statement and incredibly personal to me. I needed to exhibit how women experience intimate partner violence using the power of art. Further, individuals know that violence is taking place at this moment and has been going on for well before the 1970s. Domestic violence or any sort of abuse has serious health consequences for survivors, and we might never know the details of it. We as a whole ought to be embarrassed and ashamed about the fact that it is possibly taking place at this very moment, anywhere on this globe. Further, the ones who have the opportunity and ability to speak up, are not speaking up. I hope my audience is inspired by this piece and utilizes their voice for a greater cause: to protect victims of domestic violence or any abuse. As a 5-year-old little girl witnessing it in front of my eyes, I was unable to remain quiet about it and bury my confused, mixed emotions inside. I hope the audience goes through a turmoil of emotion by looking at this series and engages in deep self-reflection.
Strings
Jiye Park
This piece, created using watercolor paints, is a depiction of a prominent issue I deeply connect with: the Environmental Crisis. I have specifically focused on the destruction of marine life because of damaging human activities. The red blood stains symbolize puppet-strings, through which I have displayed how humans have the blood of all the dead beings on their hands.

Bloom
Aryaman Goyal

Bloom is a self-portrait inspired by the work of Frida Kahlo. Here, I have drawn on elements of nature with its beautiful components and aligned them with myself. Bloom is about childhood, innocence and beauty. This is apparent from the unique flowers and gleaming colors. I used traditional media, water paint and digital media together to create this piece.

Gray Heart of Several Colours
Chinmayi
The artwork shows how even the toughest of hearts have a vulnerable side. The gray anatomical heart shows how realistic and practical people try to be, but at the end we all have emotions, that pour out at certain times and situations.

Blue Lily
Vivika Bhatnagar
This artwork is a memory of a place I hold dear to me.
Yin and Yang:
Concept of Dualism
Anusiya
The yin and yang represent the idea that nature is made up of opposing, yet complementary forces and energy. The Yin, the dark side, is associated with everything hard, negative, cold, wet, and feminine. The Yang, or the light side, is associated with things soft, positive, warm, dry, and masculine. Hence, there is always a good in the bad and bad in the good.

The Tree of Life
Siddhartha Manaktala
‘The Tree of Life’ is an artwork based on Gond art, that originated from Madhya Pradesh. It also has some aspects of abstract art.

Bokuto
Anoshka Rijish
I created this digital piece by creating several copies of a picture I clicked and arranging it to create an image of an owl. I used various cropping styles and added additional shapes to create depth and make my design more interesting. This piece was created using Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation.
WRITING
The Painting on Level C
Anushka Roy
“Game Changer” writes Banksy, captioning the piece he posted on his Instagram page on May 6, 2020. Banksy, an anonymous street artist based in the UK, has become synonymous with ruthlessly straightforward satire on the world. While the artist’s style of stencil-based street art and a majorly monochrome palette contrasting a pop of colour reflects Banksy in the pieces, the artist’s distance from the artworks is what makes the pieces come alive in their infamous commentary on politics, climate change, or ignorance. When Banksy makes a piece and puts it out into the world, there is a voice which whispers...
